“Care” Ghosts
2020 - 2021exposed in Immagineria’s Open Studio and in “Luci di Seta”, Vicenza IT.This is an upcycling art series created after the pattern cutting course at IUAV. The project involves reusing and recycling most of the paper used in making 1:2 scale dresses.
The idea for this project arose during a period of depression while studying at university. I realized how brutal and problematic the fashion world is, with its waste, pollution, anxiety, and discrimination. I decided to reinvent my works and give them new life. The light in the artwork represents rebirth, but also a warning, to acknowledge people about the way garments are produced.
The “CARE” GHOST is a symbol to look beyond the magnificent colors, patterns, and textures shown superficially. It is a way to raise awareness on how things are made and encourage people to be conscious of what is hidden. I chose the term “care” because in Italian it has two meanings, “caring” and “expensive”.
